Celebrities from Henry Blofeld to Tom Fort offer lots to Charity Auction
Keen cricketing fans will be rushing to bid in Salmon & Trout Conservation’s annual auction for a rare chance to fish and then lunch on the glorious River Itchen in the esteemed company of the one and only voice of cricket; Henry Calthorpe Blofeld or ‘Blowers’ as he is often affectionately called.
This unique opportunity to eat, meet and fish with a celebrity hero or two like Henry Blofeld is up for grabs in Salmon & Trout Conservation’s (S&TC’s) renowned ‘live’ charity auction, being held on 12th October 2017.
The winning bid with Henry Blofeld includes fishing for 10 on the exceptional East Lodge beat on the River Itchen and includes a barbeque lunch cooked by a professional chef, to be taken during the 2018 season. The guide price for this is a snip at £5,000.
Other celebs who have generously offered time and rarely available fishing opportunities in this year’s S&TC auction include Shaun Leonard, Tom Fort, Andrew Flitcroft, Paul Proctor, Charles Jardine and more besides.
The S&TC auction offers over a hundred lots that will appeal to all game sporting interests, skills and pockets. Perhaps the MacMag day might be the one to bid for? This exciting lot offers challenging fishing with Shaun Leonard to chase coarse fish on rivers and lakes, seeking as many species as can be (mac)nabbed, but especially to catch a quality carp, pike and roach. Guide price £250.
Veronica Kruger, S&TC’s auction organiser urges everyone to put a bid or two in for some of the phenomenally good auction lots that are available this year. She says, “The now eagerly awaited S&TC annual on-line, silent and live auctions are gearing up to offer some truly remarkable and rare opportunities to bid for exclusive fishing opportunities, stunning works of art, 'fishing and feasting' packages as well as special shoot days.”
A new feature of the auction this year is that anyone wishing to bid for lots only available in the ‘live auction’ taking place on 12th October at Fishmongers Hall in London, can leave a commission bid prior to the event taking place. This means that everyone has a chance to buy something exceptional.
Apart from the ‘live auction’ on the 12th October, S&TC is also running a spectacular online auction, which opens on 18th September and runs for six weeks. This will be highlighted in the redesigned auction area in the new website and which offers really easy and intuitive registration and navigation as well as brand new features, such as a Basket and dedicated My Account section.
Veronica Kruger adds, “The S&TC annual auction is our major fund-raising initiative. We do not receive any Government funding so every penny raised supports our work to protect and restore our rivers and aquatic wildlife for future generations to enjoy."
The S&TC Annual Online auction opens on Monday 18th September (when registration opens at www.salmon-trout.org).
